Driving opportunity and efficiency in the NHS
Supporting the West Midlands Health & Wellbeing Innovation Network to bring together new technology startups & clinicians, tech-platform giants like Salesforce & Globant to drive leapfrog innovation in the NHS

The Challenge
The challenge was to facilitate a design sprint, integrating clinicians, emerging technology startups and established tech-platform giants like Salesforce and Globant, to drive leapfrog innovation in healthcare, focusing on improving service delivery and patient outcomes.
The Outcome
A week-long design sprint that brought together startups, clinicians, and tech giants like Salesforce and Globant to focus on NHS innovation. Participants identified patient pain points, developed prototypes, gained insights from these prototypes and prepared pitches to present the solutions to the broader NHS at a demo day.
The Detail
Clinicians and Tech
A week-long design sprint, bringing together technologists, enterprise-level platforms and clinicians to drive better patient outcomes for the NHS
The Ideas Agency was tasked with steering a diverse group of over 40 stakeholders—including six tech startups, clinicians, the global tech platforms Saleforce and Globant and NHS managers—toward a unified vision, to align new technology to existing clinical pathways in order to alleviate the friction points & create efficiencies to enhance patient outcomes.
The culmination of the programme was a huge Demo Day event in November 2024. This event allowed the innovators to showcase their solutions to NHS senior leadership teams and demonstrate how each solution aligned with clinical pathways while offering transformative potential for patients.
The key outcome was the development of technology that seamlessly integrated with clinical practices, ensuring these solutions could be scaled across the NHS.
This collaborative effort successfully bridged the gap between innovative technology and clinical application, resulting in solutions that not only align with but enhance current clinical practices. The technology developed during the sprint is designed for scalability, ensuring that it can be effectively implemented across the NHS to bring substantial improvements in patient care and operational efficiency. This marks a significant step forward in transforming healthcare delivery through innovation.
